Congratulations! Made it all the way to warm weather. No mean feat! And just in time for summer. I thought I'd offer my winter suffering for your safe journey to warmth, but I musta done sumpin wrong: It's been unseasonably warm. The Farmer's Almanac tells me that I get to have my guilt absolved pretty soon. It'd be a ***** if I had to save all the wood I laid in, for next year. Oh well, I could always take up carving. Lots to do. I'd been waiting for the cold spell so that I could prune my trees. Meanwhile all the other indoors chores, for some reason, never got done. I'm lookin at a head-down-ass up spring. Maybe buying a farm wasn't such a great idea after all. And speakin of taxes, I just might have to ante up $400 for my home and five acres this year (about $330 US.) That's almost as much as my heating fuel bill. It's a good thing people keep givin us salmon, venison, and moose meat or we'd really have a tough time of it. Well, happy Valentines Day to you and all the rest of the troupe. And I'd better get my ass in gear and get something for my valentine (that's her birthday) or I'll finally get some all season use out of that tipi we been draggin around with us every summer. John

Hi Rich: We are in Charleston headed to Beaufort tomorrow. We will stay in Beaufort for a couple of days and hopefully head out Port Royal Sound to Florida and skip all the Georgia switchbacks, I hate watching a power boat pass then see him ahead an hour later. We will be leaving from Lake Worth to the Bahamas (West End). I am not sure when we will arrive in West Palm (Lake Worth) but will likely leave for the Bahamas at the first opportunity to cross the stream. Have a good break in all that snow... I will email you in a few days to give you an update. Barbara found her favorite power boat in Southport, I may have to convert to power! See you soon I hope, Rick

Hi Rich: We are now a little past St. Augustine outside headed for Cape Canaveral for the day tomorrow then outside again Friday to West Palm Beach where we will wait for the next window to cross the gulf stream to the little Bahama bank near memory rock. (I think I am going to skip west end) What are your plans at this point? If we don't catch you here we can find each other in the Abaco's I guess. We will be hanging out in Hopetown on Elbow Cay. The weather has been great here, except for the lack of wind, (cold beer and t shirt weather) I guess this was the year to be late. I hope all is well and we can catch up. The boat email seems to work well here so give us an update or a call. Rick

Hey, Nice to see you back. Hope my favorite adopted daughter and family are all well. Smooth waters and safe harbors. Carl Coffin

___________

Richard, how long before you return, and are you going to tour the islands? In late March (26th thru 2nd) I'll be in Eluthera on a painting expedition with a friend. If you park in front of my easel and smile you could be hanged in a museum. This could be preferable to a yard arm. Bill C

Dear Captain, Glad to hear that you are back at the helm. At least the weather is beter. Paula and I have just returned from a cruise from Ft. Lauderdale thru the canal and down to Lima, Peru. We must have passed the Sturdt Beggar along the way. Happy crusing and keep yout feet dry. Keep up position reports. Mario

Hi Capt. Punt: Been a long time. Figured you were anchored in the Sagasso Sea or Devil's Triangle, or trolling for alligators, or some such fun thing. Just sent a message to Bobby Duke advising him to go out his front door and wave, or send a smoke flare up, as you should be passing by his place soon. Anyhoo, it's good to hear that you're still heading for vacation, in as much as right now, when in a sleet / rain storm, with several inches of that nice white stuff due in later tonight. The roads are glazed with 'black ice' which of course, is great to drive on. Full ahead, and more later! Turtle!

___________

Hi Again, Punt: Just got a blip from Bob asking that I send you his phone number, etc., in the event you get a chance to possibly call. "Captain Morgan" will be waiting. He estimates that you are about 100 miles north of him at this time. He has Jean working like a beaver getting the place cleaned up and ready to honor your presence. His previous guest mariner was Joshua Slocum, so he's all agog (or is it agrog)? with excitement. Bob / Jean Duke, Stuart, FL. Turtle!

Hi All: Well we made it... have been here 10 days or so... The Gulf stream crossing was easy for a change, we came in south of Memory Rock and went on to Great Sail Cay for the night. Then a beautiful sail to Green Turtle Cay 7+ knots wind abeam it was great boat speed until we ran aground entering Black Sound. We Stayed in Green Turtle for 3 days cleared customs then went to Bakers Bay (Guana Cay) for the night and then to Marsh Harbor to shop etc. We are now in Hopetown on Elbow cay and will hang out here for a couple of weeks. This is one of our favorite spots and we rented a mooring for a month. All is well, the boat is running very well we, have the wind generator up making ice cubes for our rum drinks, Ain't life grand! We probably will not head home until April planning to arrive sometime in May or June. Cheers. S/V Cara

___________

Dear Wayfarer: The illusive Skipper and his deep sea, ocean going, run about should not be too far from you at the present time. Do you have the "Jolly Roger" hoisted to full staff? A Helpful Turtle!

___________

Dear Coast Watcher: Bet you haven't heard that in a while either. Anyhoo, keep a sharp lookout and if you see anyone making a quick right turn, be ready to welcome boarders. Hasta Manana! Wes!

Hi Rich, Hope the sun keeps shining. It's raining sleet here. YUK. XoXo, E.T.

Just a quick note - survived the earthquake this morning. It hit at 10:55am Oregon time, 1:55pm your time. Didn't feel anything in Bend. Portland felt it but no damage reported in the state of Oregon. Caligornia had one an hour after the Seattle one. The weather has been perfect, about 55 today, no clouds, no wind - walking around in long sleave shirt - can't get better than that. Bruce
