Hi From Townsend Inlet NJ. We met with the Capt. Rich in Fla. thru Joe Paone. We are located approx 15 miles north of Cape May. If possible we would like to meet up with him if he stops in Cape May as planned. When he contacts you, if he knows the name of the marina, would appreciate that info. We would like to see him. Thank you and will continue to follow the remainder of the cruise. Ted & Esta

Hi All: We are here outside Norfolk having some work done on the engine (new cylinder head) and rebuilding the refrigerator compressor. We have been here since Friday after coming up from Coinjock we saw 4 boats aground crossing Carrituck Bay (including F. Lee Bailey, who nobody helped) But we made it thru ok. The photo shows the state of the engine as this am, But the mechanic said it should be running this afternoon, We will see.In any case we should be able to leave before the weekend. The weather has been very nice here so we have been able to catch up on some varnishing and a few other jobs. Hopefully we will be on our way soon to Cape May and then New York City. After that we will probably stop in Connecticut and Marblehead to finish up our taxes. (Where should we stay Ellie?) Rick & Barbara/CARA

Past Norfolk by 6 pm Friday night. Weather not good enough to go outside so sailing all night to the C & D Canal. Going through the Canal Sat. on the tide. Then will head down Delaware Bay. Autopilot is working well. Can make a cup of tea or get a meal while underway. __________

Ran all night. We are just outside Annapolis. Wind and tide were against us, only making 3 knots. Short run tomorrow morning to the C&D Canal.  RO'L

Hi All: We are now in Annapolis MD we left Great Bridge VA at 9:30 am yesterday ad arrive here at 2 pm today... The weather would not let us make the outside run from Norfolk to Cape May so we ran up inside Chesapeake bay (one of my least favorite places) over night to Annapolis, after dodging tugs and ships who can't speak English at 3 am when you are about to collide only to arrive here on Saturday where they were racing about 1500 sailboats which we also had to somehow avoid. It has been a long night and day, we went into Annapolis harbor which was completely full and had to leave and anchor out in a creek off the Serverin River, which is actually quite nice. The plan was to run up to the C&D canal but with 20 knot winds in our face and foul tides that was out! We will move into Delaware tomorrow if this front is not as strong as predicted. It sounds like the weather has broken at home so we will do our best to move along. Sturdy Beggar is still with us (now sleeping in the boat) 32 hours with no sleep, I hope he is still having fun... Kevin please email Jo Ann (who is on this list) she is about to pounce upon a Bristol 32 and could use some "expert" advice. Richard please text only email with this cellular connection it is all we can deal with. See you soon, Rick & Barbara/Cara

Hi All: We left Annapolis and went through the upper Chesapeake Bay to the Bohemia River where we anchored overnight. Today we went thru 3 states leaving Maryland thru the C&D Canal thru Delaware to Cape May New Jersey, where we are now at anchor off the Coast Guard station. The run down Delaware Bay was as long and uncomfortable as usual taking 14 hours with spray breaking all over the boat.

The weather outside still looks lousy so we will likely stay here a few days and jump off over night to New York City toward the weekend when the tides will let us in in the am. There has been a strong easterly flow which has made a mess of the seas offshore. We do like Cape May so this is not a bad place to be stuck for a while. Cheers, Rick & Barbara/Cara

Left 6:00 am Monday. Had a real in-your-face, blowy day. Steep seas all the way. Went through the C & D Canal down Delaware Bay, lots of traffic. Winds were
against the tide - real rough. Arrived in Cape May 8:00 PM Monday. Tied up near the Coast Guard station. Will sit here until the weather gets better then expect to make a run for Block Island. RO'L

Dear Bubby: Thought you might like to see the latest up date on Capt. Punt's sojourn north. Looks like despite a little nasty weather, that he's making fairly good time. If possible, you ought to try and look ahead in your schedule for, I believe, the third weekend, the 14th & 15th, of September, to be precise, when Dad, Punt, per Dad, hopefully Cozy, Saint, myself, and I'm not certain at this time, possibly also Bill Kelly, Mario, etal are hoping to get together for a reunion of sorts during Homecoming, when again they play Maine. Should be a blast, and hopefully by then, Sprite, will only be a distant, hideous memory. Turtle!

Turtle, thanks for that email from Punt, just like we all said, many years ago he is a first class seaman on deck or in the hole. Having just crossed and returned from the North Atlantic aboard this huge car carrier, and traveled Chesapeake Bay to Baltimore, I thought often of Punt by himself, in his less than forty footer!!! WOW and quite frankly, I was glad to hear he did not strike out across the big pond, by himself would be absolute insanity and even with a crew would be boardline insanity!!! As everyone knows I'm an authority on insanity!!!! He is getting plenty of Command experience, doing just what he is presently doing. However, what bothers me, is this confidence he is building as a result of this present voyage, on top, of all the hard headed confidence he already has might just be enough to send him to the Blarney stone with or without a crew. Let's all hope this does not happen, as much as he wants to make that trip. I'll soon get an email from him telling me to F&^%$ off . The Sept. get together sounds great whoever goes should stay sober, Punt might Shanghai his crew right there. I will keep that get together in mind at the moment it sounds good to me so don't count me out yet. Great to hear from you and lets go Bosox's regards to you and yours, Bob PS: getting off that Sprite sounds good!!!!

Punt, or should I say Captain, right on stay nice, snug and cozy, wait for the right time to move out!!!!! Even then you could get clobbered and I'm sure you have found this out already. Sorry we could not connect when you were in my area. I just got home from the car carrier run to Northern Europe and its good to be home. Have a pleasant trip back home and be careful, shipmate.
